The World Association of Wine and Spirits Journalists and Writers (WAWWJ) has presented its annual ranking, after counting the prizes obtained in the 80 most important international wine competitions in the world.

The verdejo D.O. Rueda reiterates its leadership in the world market. The Denomination of Origin Rueda has managed to place nine wines from its wineries in the TOP 10 of this world ranking, led for the second consecutive year, by the wine Castelo Medina Verdejo 2014, which has obtained 201,60 points. With these data, it is ranked as the 14th best wine in the world out of a total of 680,930 participants. In addition, in the national ranking is positioned in seventh position, of the 3,508 wines accounted for by the WAWWJ.

The wineries Cooperativa Reina de Castilla, Javier Sanz Viticultor, Pernod Ricard Winemakers Spain (Bodegas Aura), Union vitivinícola (Marqués de Cáceres) and Avelino Vegas have managed to position their wines in this classification, in the following order:
