VARIETY: 100% Verdejo
ELABORATION PROCESS: 2014 was characterised by a rainy and mild winter, followed by a hot spring, with an absence of rainfall and a degree of drought. Dry and hot summer, which brought forward the ripening process at least seven days compared to a normal year. Balanced final ripening, with the harvest extending throughout September.
THE WINE: This is a wine made with selected grapes from Grupo Matarromera’s vineyard in Valdestillas. A barrel-fermented Verdejo worthy of the Matarromera name. Pale strawyellow colour with greenish and golden hues. Crisp and very bright. Honest, stylish and very complex. Numerous details in perfect harmony. Scents of tropical fruit such as passion fruit and mango, amid herbs, aniseed and white flowers with blended touches from its aging in barrels such as cloves, vanilla, cedar... Good and stylish structure, simultaneously fresh and unctuous. Excellent balance between this structure and a calibrated acidity that evokes tropical, smoked, spicy and balsamic aromas. Lengthy, voluminous, cool and elegant at the finish.
