VARIETY: 100% Verdejo
DESCRIPTION: It has been five years since Avelino Vegas created Circe, a wine that surprises your nose and fascinates on the palate, and it is also the flagship of the Rueda winery as one of the most awarded. To celebrate this anniversary we present "Circe Barrel Fermented 2015" made with verdejo from centenarian vines and aged in the best new French oak barrels. The wood perfume adorns the freshness of orange blossom and the fruit. Circe, as the goddess from which it takes the name, surprises, fascinates and also, you will fall in love with it.
ELABORATION: This wine is elaborate with Verdejo grapes from century-old vines, they are cultivated in Santiuste de San Juan Bautista, in sandy soils with clay background at an altitude of more of 800 meters above sea level. The grapes are picked by hand, and soft macerated and pressed. The clean most ferments in new French oak barrel of 300 litres, later it is matured on its fine lees in the barrel with daily batonage during 5 months. The wine rests in the bottle for at least four months before being offered for sale.
TASTING NOTE: Lemon greenish yellow colour, bright. With medium intensity on the nose, first it shows notes of stone fruits like the peach and tropical notes like pineapple, giving way to the perfume from the barrel: vanilla, orange peel and the orange blossom. Full-bodied on the mount, with structure and volume at the same time, long finish on the palate and very persistent flavours, with a fine and balanced acidity.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Ideal for all types of fish dishes, especially any kind of cod preparation. It also pairs well with seafood and rice dishes. Very good harmony with red meat carpaccio and all feathered game.
